Male Voice Choir sings for RnR
The Dumfries Male Voice Choir held a concert for Southwest Scotland RnR in November in Dalbeattie Town Hall in November and raised a staggering £1300 for the charity.
Conducted by David McCullough, the choir performed a varied programme which included two pieces specially chosen for their pro-peace theme which was felt to be appropriate for the evening. They were Mansions of the Lord and Let There Be Peace on Earth. Guest artists soprano Angela McCullough and Fraser Hogg on bagpipes also wowed the audience in a packed hall.
Businesses and individual supporters in Dalbeattie, Dumfries and Castle Douglas generously gave dozens of prizes for a raffle which was drawn during the interval and raised £350.
Jennefer Tobin chairman of RnR said: “It was a splendid evening and we are extremely grateful to the Dumfries Male Voice Choir for supporting the work of RnR in this way. They have raised a magnificent sum for the charity. I would also like to thank C/Sgt Grant and Private Oram who volunteered to help during the evening. They sold raffle tickets and helped distribute the masses of prizes. We really could not have done it without their efforts. Having them at the concert also hugely lifted the whole evening to have them there looking so smart and reminding people for the reason the charity exists.”
The Dumfries Male Voice Choir, which has raised thousands of pounds for charities over the years, presented Jennefer with a cheque for £1300 during one of their rehearsal evenings.
